Family and Friends

Last night we hugged Alan's brother and said goodbye. He left for a year or more of military service. I don't even have words to describe how heart wrenching it was to watch Scott hug his family members one by one and then walk away and fly into the unknown. So much of this next year will be about facing the "unknown" for Scott and Nicole. God, I pray that they will seek you in each moment of doubt, fear, and loneliness. I pray that they will be filled with your joy and peace. Lord, please hold them in your hands of protection. Bring hope to their hearts and freedom in Your abundant love.

We drove home this afternoon and celebrated a good friend's graduation from George Fox University. What fun it was to relax in the sunshine, visiting and eating (waaaay too many brownies). Later, at the commencement ceremony, I was struck by how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends. I thank you God for providing the gift of friendship right next door. I often think, "this makes love your neighbor as yourself pretty easy!"

Family and Friends-I've got both. Two groups of people who I often consider as one. This weekend I have mourned and rejoiced. But most of all I have loved.
