God's Warriors

CNN is running a 3-part series called God's Warriors starting on August 21st, hosted by Christiane Amanpour (Wiki,IMDb). She will be covering three broad religious groups: Jews, Muslims and Christians. From the trailer and reading some of the text, it sounds like it could be interesting, but then I think a lot of things are interesting where other people find controversy.

Here are a few videos on CNN about the series. (I'm not sure who the woman is introducing the GW: segments, but her delivery bothers me):

There's not a huge amount of talk out there about this show yet, so I don't have anything more about the content other than what you can read and watch online at the CNN site. The "Century of Tumult" text seems to focus a lot on the conflicts, wars and all the death and destruction which have come about as a result of religious (and political) beliefs. I hope the program isn't exclusively about this because it makes me sad, and a little mad, that humanity, so-called Christians specifically, seem(s) to have done a poor job of reflecting the Perfect Love we have been given, and carrying Peace and Joy to all the corners of the earth.

Alan, This sounds

Alan,

This sounds fascinating! I just finished reading a great book called "The Faith Club" by 3 women-Jewish, Christian and Muslim-who came together after 9/11 to write a children's book and ended up meeting regularly for several years, learning a lot about each other's perspectives. It was very well written, with each woman sharing in turns throughout the book. Like you, I wonder if some might see it as controversial, but appreciated the work these women did to face the controversy and find a way to move past it into understanding and friendship. I hope this new series is as balanced and respectful.
