Lifestyles of the ModeratelyWealthy and CertainlyNot Famous

Life is good.  This past weekend we were given the gift of child-freeness by our sister-in-law Nicole.  Last Friday, after attending a lovely dinner and Skype birthday party for Alan's brother Scott (he's serving in the Navy in Africa), Alan and I spent the night at the Campbell House.  We continued to celebrate 12 years of marriage by taking a leisurely trip up the Oregon Coast and stopping in Florence, Yachats, Pacific City and Oceanside. Pacific City was our lunch stop where we enjoyed a big meal and good beer at the Pelican Pub and Brewery. We returned home Saturday night to relax and prepare for church.

Teaching 1st Grade Sunday School is a highlight of my week.  What a blessing to spend an hour with 13-17 little first graders, each with their own God-given gifts and precious personalities.  Since our kids weren't returning home until Sunday evening,  Alan and I both had time to unwind in our own unique ways:  I went and got a pedicure and manicure (with b-day money from Mom and Dad); Alan worked on audio things for NFC and started uploading pictures to Snapfish.

Monday had it's own gifts-one of which was finding a new iron (after 2 trips in 1 day to Bi-Mart) that actually works.  In the middle of a hectic day, my neighbor came over with her girls -Grace went up stairs to play with the 5 other kids here and I got to hold baby Jilian.  She smiled and made funny faces and cute sounds-that for me is a true taste of Heaven.  Yesterday also marked the beginning of the new season of Dancing with the Stars.  Brynn and I were very happy!!

Today I drove to McMinnville to learn about my family history from my Grandmother.  As I sat with my Granny, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with how precious life is.  I've got relatives who crossed the Oregon Trail, made land claims and started churches. I'm hoping Alan can put a little audio snippet of it on here soon.  I used "modern technology" to record stories about the "good ole days."
