Hello and welcome back to the House Remodel Central page. As the project progresses, I'll use this page to link other pages or blogs related to the remodeling. Sure, you could just lick on the "-- remodel" category link to the right, but that's too messy for me.
Overview
| Page | Description |
|---|---|
| Why Remodel? | Get an overview of why we want to turn our house upside down for a couple months. |
| Construction Cam | Watch the demolition and reconstruction from a vantage point in the side yard. This camera is LIVE! |
| Remodel Schedule | As the project progresses, find out if we're sticking to the agressive schedule or not. |
| Timelapse Archive | A single frame is captured every two minutes and added as a frame in a video. When something of interest is happening, that day's video will be added. |
| Webcam Grab | The left sidebar will have the latest frame added to the timelapse archive movie. |
| Remodel Photo Album | What's not on video was probably captured in a picture. Check out the photo album. |
Daily Project Summary
| Date | Entry |
|---|---|
| 6/5/2006 | Construction cam online The official debut of the outdoor construction cam. |
| 6/17/2006 | Construction pre-demolition work Alan and Michelle tear out the vanity and drywall in the kid's bathroom to prepare for the plumber. |
| 6/19/2006 | The first sub-contractor The first sub-contracted work in performed as part of the remodel project. |
| 6/26/2006 | It has begun... Day 1 dawns hot and witha lot of work ahead. |
| 6/26/2006 | It's 100 degrees and the demolition continues. The mercury has risen dramatically. Drink plenty of fluids. |
| 6/26/2006 | Remodel Day 1 The first day of remodel (aka destruction of the existing roof) is now in the bag. |
| 6/27/2006 | Is anything being done today? Where is everyone? Inside the garage. |
| 6/27/2006 | Remodel Day 2 The work seemed to start out kinda slow, but that's because a lot of work had to be done inside the garage first. Sheer paneling walls, hanging joists, and finally, adding all the decking for the second story. It was fully decked by the end of the day. |
| 6/28/2006 | Remodel Day 3 Another slow-starting day as the walls are built on the floor and lifted up, but by the end of the day, we had all the exterior walls in place and ready for interior walls and trusses on Thursday. |
| 6/29/2006 | Remodel Day 4 Quiet, cool morning. But things got hopping quickly on the inside. The trusses got dropped today, too. |
| 6/30/2006 | Remodel Day 5 The final day of primary framing as the trusses get installed and the roof completely sheeted. |
| 7/1/2006 | Remodel Day 6 The shed roof is completed, facia is added to the roof line, and interior wall framing is almost done. The electrical panel is re-worked and all the wires are safely tucked back into the garage ceiling. |
| 7/4/2006 | A little rain must fall Although we'd been blessed with over a week, it rained today. We got a tarp over the roof just in time, though. |
| 7/7/2006 | Remodel Day 10 It's time for the roof to get dressed up for work and keep the rain out. |
| 7/17/2006 | Remodel Day 15 A weekly update on siding and mechanical, eletrical and finishing rough framing. |
| 7/18/2006 | Remodel Day 16 The electrical inspection passed, and we're racing to get HVAC completed before we have our rough inspection on framing, plumbing and mechanical today. |
| 7/22/2006 | Remodel Day 21 Apologies for not posting pictures and drywall is going up fast. |
| 8/30/2006 | Remodel Day ... too many The remodel is nearly complete and it genuinely feels good, but also seems to be taking way too long to actually complete. |
