Remodel Day 2

Day number two on the project is over. While not as hot temperature-wise as Day 1, it was still very warm and the sun seemed more intense. When the afternoon breeze came in, it felt real nice.

The timelapse video from today doesn't show a whole lot of excitement as compared to Day 1, at least in the morning. That's because after the lumber package arrived, the most dangerous part of the day started: the jacking of the glu-lam beam.

Then the the inner wall of the garage had to be sheared with 4x10' panels, from the top of the joist down to the sill. After the outer rim joist was created out of a sandwich of 2x12's and a 1/2" piece of plywood, there was a lot of careful measuring for placement of the joists over the garage.

In no time at all, the joists were sheeted and work moved to adding the 2x12 joists over the rear family room. At the end of the day, the entire floor of the new area is complete and ready to start putting walls up.
